Jio GigaFiber: 5 Revolutionary Changes Jio is Bringing Your Home Soon

August 24,2018

After plenty of fanfare and attraction, Jiohas launched the service of its broadband connections –Jio GigaFiber. The company has started registrations for the services since   August 15. Now here we take a look at Five Revolutionary Changes that the company will be bringing to your home:

1. Jio GigaFiber Broadband Service:

While most Indian Internet Service Providers are still offering internet service with the use of outdated copper lines, meaning slower speeds, Reliance Jio is directly going to launch its services via Fiber optic cables. Fiber optic cables are the state of the art technology that provides lossless data transmission, thereby, ensuring high-speed internet access. While some specialized Internet Service Providers offer exclusive fibre optic network, the cost is prohibitive and Reliance Jio will be looking to exploit this.

2. 100 GB of data will now be a common theme:

While many of the specialized internet service providers such as ACT Broadband and even leaders such as Airtel and BSNL provide 100 GB browsing data per month as a part of their plans, this is mostly found in the high-end plans, which are often expensive. However, with the launch of Reliance Jio GigaFiber, soon 100 GB data plans may become the norm, rather than an exception, as it is expected that almost all plans will offer 100 GB of data or more.

3. GigaFiber will be more than just about Internet browsing:

The Mukesh Ambani owned company has launched the Jio GigaFiber services bundled in a Jio GigaRouter that is designed to transmit high speed up to 1Gbps. While this may be expected, the company is also bundling an optional internet TV set-top box in the form of JioGigaTV. This will provide 4K quality streaming of more than 600 TV channels live with the use of the broadband connection. The device will come with a voice control enabled remote as well.

4. Smart Home, now a reality:

The smart home segment hasn’t really caught up in India, with not many vendors offering products in the country. Jio is looking to change that with the bundling of smart home solutions. The company will be launching several smart home accessories that will be compatible with your Jio GigaRouter, including the smart bulb, cameras etc. These can be controlled via your My Jio app.

5. Jio suite of solutions:

The company is looking to expand beyond its broadband services as it is also looking to bundle in landline services, virtual reality experiences as well as video conferencing capabilities from your TV with the launch of Jio GigaFiber.

Jio GigaFiber Registrations:

With registrations commencing from August 15, users can rush on to gigafiber.jio.com to register themselves. Here users must enter details such as their name, contact number, e-mail address and also their communication address. The registration process is free of cost and you will be sent an acknowledgement of the registration. Afterwards, the company representatives will soon get in touch with you.

Jio GigaFiber plans:

While there is no official statement from Jio regarding the pricing or speeds, it is largely rumoured that the company could provide plans that start as low as Rs. 500 per month and also offer 100GB of internet data on a monthly basis. It is also expected that the company is set to launch plans with speeds up to 100Mbps.
