A couple of days ago, it was reported that Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO was all set to release its first smartphone — the Pocophone F1 on August 22. Now, the latest bit of information comes via a Geekbench sighting where we get confirmation about the amount of memory that would be added with it.
As per the revelation on Geekbench, the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 will come loaded with 8GB of RAM. This shows us that the handset will most likely come in two variants, a 6GB version and a higher-end, 8GB variant.
From the Geekbench listing, we see that the handset scores 2451 points in the single-core test and 8998 points in the multi-core test. This puts it on par with other Snapdragon 845 handsets such as the OnePlus 6, HTC U12+ etc. A report claims that prior to the appearance of the Pocophone F1 with 8GB RAM, this feature was previously just a rumour.
The Pocophone F1 will be launched in India on August 22 and will be sold as a Flipkart exclusive. Speculations are rampant that POCO would pitch this device as a gaming-centric phone in the market. The handset is also expected to feature a premium design and will also sport a notch.
The handset is expected to come with a minimum of 64GB of onboard storage that can be expanded upon by way of a microSD card. In terms of optics, the handset would feature a 12MP+5MP dual rear camera setup and a 20MP selfie camera along with support for IR face unlock feature. There will also be a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The dual-SIM smartphone will be powered by a 4000mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging. The device is said to be running Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box with MIUI 9.0 on top.
As of now, no details surrounding the pricing have been spilt but we expect it to be the cheapest Snapdragon 845 handset in the market.
